Dr. Sara Hyatt-Boyd, PsyD, is a Clinical Psychologist licensed by the State of California's Board of Psychology (PSY22635).

Dr. Hyatt-Boyd earned her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Ryokan College, and a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from the Institute of Imaginal Studies. She has extensive training and experience in Expressive Arts modalities including sandplay, art, and play therapy. She has specialized training in several research-based treatment approaches including Affect Centered Therapy (ACT) for addictive and compulsive behaviors, the Gottman method for marital therapy, and the Nurtured Heart approach for ADD/ADHD and behavioral concerns.

Her approach draws largely upon psychodynamic, object-relations, and cognitive-behavioral techniques and theories. She believes that every individual has a unique story that longs to be heard, understood, and integrated. She provides a safe, relaxed environment in which clients can find comfort and support, and can conduct an honest and thorough examination of their unique personal history. Doing so can open the door to understanding one's current experiences, needs, perceptions, beliefs, and behavior patterns. This process provides the backdrop for moving forward with courageous and positive life changes. Dr. Hyatt-Boyd takes a straightforward yet compassionate approach to assisting clients in taking responsibility for their life choices and emotional well-being. She sums up this entire process with the following formula: FEEL + DEAL = HEAL

Dr. Hyatt-Boyd believes in a best-practices and collaborative approach to treatment. Together with the client, she discusses and decides upon the issues to be addressed and the projected course of treatment, utilizing those techniques which have proven to be the most effective. She will work closely with a client's other treating professionals (such as Psychiatrist or Teacher) and provide referrals to adjunct services where appropriate.
